Portfolio

With the end of my first semester as a graphic design major near, I feel that I learned and accomplished much in my class. I still have a lot of practice to do but I am very satisfied with the work I put into my projects. The class was enjoyable and the challenges kept me busy. I look forward to continuing further with my major.

TABLET ART

Hey everyone. I'm rather shy about this, but I did create a separate art blog for outside drawings that I have made using my Bamboo Tablet. I put them on a separate blog to keep my school art blog organized. They're mostly quick doodles but feel free to check them out if you'd like.

Irina Werning Project

Before this class, I was aware of artists who had posed as they had in past photos, but I could never identify with a specific artist that used the technique. Werning's works are gorgeous and truly amazing to see. The time and transformation of the subject is awing and sometimes even shocking. What really impresses me about her work is all the minor details she uses to recreate the original image. I can't imagine the time and patients needed to find exact (or nearly exact) clothing and items in the photo. My favorite one was of the little girl who grew up and was covered in tattoos. Although she has changed and grown up with a very dramatic look, the viewer can still see the little girl she used to be despite all the ink on her body. Her work is truly inspiring and entices me to look through my old photos and see the progression that time has had on me and the people and places I grew up around.

Somewhere- The Outback

I've never been to Australia. It's on my bucket list of places to visit before I die. Wish the photo of myself had not been so blurry, but the lighting and Iphone were not in my favor on it.

Somewhere- Jurassic Park

And in that moment I realized...that's a real dinosaur.

Art Project- Lady with a Unicorn by Raphael

(corrected version)
Our next project was to find a painted portrait and combine our image with it. I chose Lady With a Unicorn by Raphael and combined a photo of myself taken at Busch Gardens. So creepy....

AUTOSCOPY

For the autoscopy project, I felt really challenged on how to depict myself. I decided to center it around my zodiac sign, Leo, and some of the elements related around it. My birth stone is ruby, thus the crown upon my head. I fused my face with a lion, to show that I am a Leo. I feel like I am adventurous and a free spirit, so I added the wings of a hawk to symbolize my eagerness to fly off and explore the world. The background is like sunlight, the ruling "planet" of Leo signs. And lastly the fire tattoo. Although my element is supposedly fire, I am more drawn to water. Thus, I changed it to be blue, to symbolize a fire for things that I am passionate about and my love for the water and color blue. (Also it matched my scarf lol).

Photoshop Practice and Play

In class, we were instructed to play around with Photoshop and use the different setting to create 10 different pictures from an original one. I chose to use my snorkeling photograph from the manatee trip I attended last fall!

Poster

It was a challenge to consider what subject I wanted to advertise, and also how I would use lighting to get the tracing lines I needed in Adobe Illustrator. After rummaging around in my closet, I came across my fedora and jacket. The thought of possibly turning them into a detective outfit seemed ideal, and the time of day was filtering a nice amount of light through the bedroom window. I must say, however, I wonder what my neighbors thought should they have spotted me taking at least 26 selfies in front of the window overlooking Vaughn Courtyard...
